I’ve been asked where I get my inspiration for some of my designs and today I’ll let you in on a secret of mine– I subscribe to the clothing box subscription service Stitch Fix. It’s a fun way for me to build up my own closet with little work on my end and I get inspiration for future Love Notions Patterns. It’s also just plain fun to get a box of clothes someone else has styled for you in the mail every once in awhile. A lot of times the clothes they pick for me are not items I’d normally pick for myself so it kind of gets me outside my own box. While I’m waiting for my own box of clothing goodness I stalk Youtube box reveals, pinterest and random blog posts to see what everyone else is getting. There’s one popular shirt that most ladies are dying to get (as well as pay $$$ for). It’s the Corinna Dolman by Market & Spruce. I haven’t gotten one myself so what’s a pattern designer to do? Knock it off, of course! This is a pretty easy design, nothing too earth shattering. It has a dolman style sleeve but it’s more of a fitted dolman shirt, it does not have the large bat-wings so many dolman tops do.

It’s pretty cute, right? Here’s my take on the Corinna Dolman– the Love Notions La Bella Donna Top & Tunic. The Love Notions top has two lengths: shirt and tunic as well as three neckline options: boatneck, cowl and hood. And what pattern would be complete without sleeve length options?! The La Bella Donna has short, 3/4 and long sleeves.
