Another winner from Love Notions! This pattern was an easy, fun sew. I made the mock turtleneck and plan to make a cowl neck next. While not form fitting, it has a slightly slimmer fit than many Love Notions patterns and that is great for layering. My Mom and Aunt already want one.
GreenHouseSewing (verified owner) –
Great pattern! Cut and sew in an afternoon. Great fit, simply yet sophisticated. The only adjustment made was in length, I added two inches to accommodate my height (5’8″). I can’t wait to make more!
Andrea (verified owner) –
I really enjoy LN patterns!! But this one is my favorite! Not too loose, not too snug. All the neck options makes it great for weather transitions. I am a confident beginner and made three in few hours.
Tonya Boland (verified owner) –
The Arlington Sweater is my favorite pattern right now! I love all the neckline and sleeve options, but I think the cowl with the bishop sleeve is my favorite. The cowl is fantastic, the way it is shaped there is no bulk at the back of the neck. It is such a comfortable top to wear!

As a beginner I truly thought I wouldn’t be able to sew this beautiful pattern up for the fall but was so surprised how amazingly easy and also clear the pattern was to sew!! I so appreciate Love Notions for their easy to read instructions. Also, this pattern is amazing for all the seasons!! I need an Arlington for all the things!! So many options too, with puff sleeves, short, elbow, or long, it really is the perfect pattern if you want a basic shirt with sweet feminine details to add some flair. Love love LOVE this pattern!!!
Tricia (verified owner) –
I really love all the options available with the Arlington Sweater, combine that with different fabric types and the possibilities are almost endless. Pattern is easy to follow. I am between to sizes for my bust area but I was able to do an easy fit adjustment.

This pattern is so much fun. It goes together quickly with very professional results. I made two right away and can’t wait to wear them. I did a sweater knit turtle neck with Bishop sleeves and a dress turtleneck with puff sleeves out of Bamboo French Terry of a lighter dress weight. I think this will the perfect top to make for under Hoodies too.
kskemp84 (verified owner) –
I was really looking forward to purchasing and making this pattern with all the wonderful possibilities included. I made one with the cowl neck and really like how it fits. I have several more planned with different fabrics and styles. Another winner from Love Notions,

Absolutely love this sweater pattern!! Easy to construct (as usual) and the bishop is just lovely!
lisakafka (verified owner) –
This pattern is amazing. So many options in one pattern. Directions are very clear and fit is perfect! One of my all time favorite love notions patterns.

I’ve made two of Arlingtons for my daughter for work. They were quick and perfect for a dressy business look with Sybil skirt and duet pants. Both in rib knit with mock turtleneck and elbow sleeves. Can’t wait to make some for me too!

While I have a large collection of LN patterns–the Arlington is the first one I have actually sewed up. According to my measurements I made the 3x with FBA. The fit is absolutely perfect–not too tight and not too loose!! Cowl neckline, bishop sleeves and banded bottom in double brushed poly is such a comfy combination. Let the sewing up of my LN collection begin!!!

The Arlington is one of my favorite Love Notions patterns. It is a quick and easy sew and has a variety of style options to customize your look. The fit is great and I can wear this top to work which means I will get a lot of use out of it. I can’t wait to try the dress option 🙂
Jenelle Butler (verified owner) –
The Arlington is the first pattern I have made out of my collection of Love Notions Patterns. The fit is great straight off the printer with no adjustments, usually I have to do a full bicep adjustment and add length to sleeves and body on every pattern I make. This is my favorite style of top and since it fits perfect, I can modify the pattern to get various styles that will still fit great.
embarnett28 (verified owner) –
This is a great pattern and a easy sew. I made the dress version with the bishop sleeves and mock turtle neck, Fits well – no adjustments! I am 5’9 and the dress hits right at my knees.
best.rr (verified owner) –
I cannot say enough great things about this pattern. It has SO MANY options! I have been working on a business casual wardrobe for work and this is basically the only top pattern I have needed. By varying the fabric and the options on this top I have made at least a dozen versions and no one would know it’s essentially the same top. Clear directions and a quick sew. Love it so much.
Tessa (verified owner) –
So happy to hear this!
jeri59834 (verified owner) –
What’s not to love about this pattern?! So so many wonderful options, easy to sew and really enjoyed the quick sew. Planning on making a second without the cowl neck. Thanks Tessa for the great pattern!
Mary Hyatt (verified owner) –
Great pattern, have made 2 so far. One with the cowl. I love that cowl shape. It can be worn so it goes out my shoulders. The cuffed bishop sleeves are great.
The second one was made with straight long sleeves and the mock neck. The mock neck is a perfect fit, not too tight, and not too tall.
Both were easy and quick sews
cheriberi (verified owner) –
Love this pattern! Easy to put it together, the directions were easy to follow, and it looks fantastic! It is my first Love Notions pattern, and next up is the Rhapsody!
Coreen Russell (verified owner) –
One of my most versatile patterns because my grandkids like it, my working daughter loves it and I love it-three generations with multiple makes. Super easy and looks great.
Kim Field (verified owner) –
This is one of my favorite patterns for fall/winter! The sweater I’ve made with it are loose enough to be worn alone, but slim fitting enough that I can layer under a cardigan. I’ve lost count of how many I’ve made, but I’m sure there’ll be more to come.
hellolorijoy (verified owner) –
This was the perfect top to add some more tops for my teen daughter’s business dress code activity. The directions were clear and there were so many choices that each top could look different.
Angie Wong (verified owner) –
This is a great pattern! The instructions are easy to follow. There are so many options to mix and match with the sleeves and necklines. I made 2 puff sleeve mock neck versions. One in a bamboo/cotton/spandex, and the other in a light sweater knit. They fit so well and look great dressed up or casual. I love that they skim over my body and aren’t too tight or too loose.
JEANNE Welch (verified owner) –
I absolutely love the Arlington. I have made it 3 times. The fit is very comfortable and easy to adjust in different ways. Will be making more next fall.
jeri59834 (verified owner) –
I’ve made several of the Arlington sweaters, and really enjoy sewing up this quick pattern. Lots of variations to make a new sweater each time. Love your patterns!
ruthspory (verified owner) –
Where do I start – I love Love notion Patterns! This one is a stunner and has so many variations. The directions are very clear, but if you need a little extra there are video tutorials on youtube. I love the various neckline options. Every time I wear one of my Arlington makes I get asked where did I purchase the sweater.
janetpayne (verified owner) –
I have made several Arlington and they are easy to make and enjoyable to wear. I love that Love Notion patterns come with Full Bust pattern pieces.
Patryc Barnes (verified owner) –
So versatile! I hacked with the Saltwhistle neckline and it turned out great!
Elisabeth Hirschi (verified owner) –
I love the cowl neck and bishop sleeves! So comfy!
Elaine van der Poll (verified owner) –
Love this top!! The fit is perfect and very versatile with all the sleeve options!
Caitlin Willis (verified owner) –
Arlington is one of my all time favorite patterns. I love the mixing and matching for the necklines and the beautiful bishop sleeve.
Nicole Martin-Schallhorn (verified owner) –
What a versatile pattern! Casual or dressy, you can create the look you want with it.
Kendra Bowman (verified owner) –
I have made three of these now. I like how there are so many different options to this pattern. I will be making more in the future.
Anne Pericoi (verified owner) –
So far I only used it to make layering pieces for the cold days, but I loved the first so much I immediately made a second one! More are definitely to come. Very easy, even for a beginner like me ; I highly recommend it
Terrie (verified owner) –
My first woven fabric top! Love the style and especially appreciate the helpful course. I stopped sewing many years ago (always used wovens back then) because nothing ever fit correctly. Love Notions changed that. This shirt fits beautifully and I get complicates every time I wear it.
rh_abbott1 (verified owner) –
I made this with a very fluffy fabric & made the cowl neck. I made the cowl smaller as I felt it was way too big. It is a lovely snuggly well fitting pattern & I would love to make a winter dress.
Lori Jessen (verified owner) –
This makes the perfect sweater dress for the warmer months Classic warm and cozy. It also makes a great top. I did a top in 2 layers: one of a thinner opaque knit and the other lace knit. You can dress this pattern up or down as you like. I’ll definitely be making more of these!
ruthspory (verified owner) –
Perfect sweater pattern. The directions are clear and easy to follow. I used a cabled sweater knit and despite operator error with my serger I still created a fantastic sweater to wear. I made the turtleneck version with 3/4 sleeves (see comment about serger operator issues above). This pattern will be on repeat with all my sweater knits.
Melissa Chance (verified owner) –
This is another great basic top pattern for my autumnal capsule wardrobe – module 1 set (3 tops, 1 topper, 2 bottoms – per Whitney from TomKat Stitchery). I used a lightweight rayon spandex knit that will be used as a layering piece. I made the standard bust, a straight size large, bishop sleeves with a cuff (gathered sleeve into the cuff), shaped centre back seam option and turtleneck. No alterations. I have a short torso and wider hips and felt like this size was perfect for a more fitted style. I didn’t follow the pattern’s instructions for the intended ease which was a looser fit. I will experiment with the turtleneck style because I like a closer fitting funnel for fall/winter to trap my body heat. The rayon spandex knit created a nice drapey sleeve which I love. This pattern has so many options. It’s a true choose-your-own-adventure sewing pattern. So much fun and the results are very sophisticated.
Alison Kelly (verified owner) –
This is my new favorite shirt pattern. I love the mock neck and I did a winter sweater with Bishop Sleeves and a spring top with short puffed sleeves. They look and feel completely different, but I LOVE them both. It’s such a versatile pattern. I did lengthen it a bit for my height, but it was easy to do and the fit is perfect.
vh_scott (verified owner) –
This pattern is the perfect addition for work wear and winter wardrobe! I made the full bust version in cotton spandex with the mock neck and puff sleeve options, and it’s my favourite work top (comfy and still looks great). Easy to follow instructions and lots of good options to customize! The only additions I’d love to see is the ability to add a belt to the dress, and pockets for the dress.
Nicole Martin-Schallhorn (verified owner) –
This is a great pattern to add to your collection. You can create different looks with the same pattern due to the multiple options available. The actual construction of the pattern is simple and explained well in the directions. I’ve lost count of how many I’ve made- dress with turtleneck, dress with cowl, sweater with mock necks, etc. The fit is great!
christinemoore38 (verified owner) –
This is my favorite go too pattern. The sleeves and collar options make for a great sssortment of options for your wardrobe.
becksterw (verified owner) –
This is a great pattern. The instructions are easy and it’s a quick sew. I love that there are lots of options so I can use this pattern over and over with different results every time.
Ginette Dennis (verified owner) –
My new favourite LN pattern. My first had a cowl neck and 2nd one had a mock nock. Great fit, easy to make and looks great.
shelley Kearney (verified owner) –
I love the Arlington Sweater. I made it as a layering piece and the fit was lovely and snuggly. I was looking at The Nina Lee Southbank and Tilly & The Buttons Billie sweater dress but remembered The Arlington. A true rival to those popular patterns. It was great made from a Cosy Colours sweatshirt fabric. I love it and it was a fast and easy sew. Your prices are amazing compared to other Indie Pattern Companies and instructions incredible. More to come now its cold here in Scotland. This is a versatile pattern.
janamonin (verified owner) –
One of my favorite Love Notions patterns, and definitely my most made! All the sweater, and sweatshirts I have made from this pattern fit beautifully. And it is very hackable, so they all look unique. Love, love, love.
Kim Rengert (verified owner) –
I made the Arlington turtleneck, with short puff sleeves and the banded hem and I love it! It was a quick sew and looks very smart. I’ll definitely make more.
mdeeter (verified owner) –
The Arlington sweater is a “not so basic” basic pattern. It is my go to pattern when I need to make a base layer top. With it’s many sleeve and neckline options, the Arlington is perfect for a wide variety of fabrics!
jenelle butler (verified owner) –
Great, Versatile Pattern with many options. This pattern is a quick sew and the perfect fit without being too loose or too fitted. I hate having to monopolize a new style pattern to get the fit I desire for it. Since I already have the perfect fitting body with the Arlington, I just hack a few new necklines onto the Arlington and that takes the guess work out of fitting and I still get a new looking top. I guess you could say it is my personal sloper.
Andreja Vovk Iskrić (verified owner) –
Started making my first Arlington last week and now I have three. It is easy to make and many sleeves and neckline choices give options to create different styles. I love cowl neckline and bishop sleeves. Now on to make some options for warmer weather.
Donna Louch (verified owner) –
I love this top – I bought this not that long ago as I thought I had similar styles. But the fit on this surpassed my other patterns. The cowl is so flattering and my favorite. Makes such a pretty sweater dress.
thered.sarah (verified owner) –
I love that there are so many sleeve and neckline choices that come with this. Have made my first dress yesterday and already have fabric set aside for another and some sweaters. Because of the choice one pattern allows you have so many different garments.
lwhitewave (verified owner) –
I have cut and sewn two Arlington Sweaters, one for me and another that I gifted to my MIL. I adore the mock turtleneck and bishop sleeves. I am 5’0 and cut my pattern shorter to accommodate. While it fits beautifully, I don’t love the way *I* look with that shorter length, so I’ll revert to the pattern as drafted. I will be making more.
mommurri08 (verified owner) –
I just made a long bishop sleeve with cowl neck sweater from a red sweater knit for Christmas. I’ve already worn it several times. Just an easy pattern and it looks great!
Katherine Todd (verified owner) –
Absolutely love this pattern, so versatile! I absolutely hate having to put trousers or leggings on after swimming but it’s so cold in the UK in the winter and I couldn’t find any RTW sweater dresses that I liked – Arlington to the rescue!
Caren Augsburger (verified owner) –
I love my Arlington sweater. It is a quick and easy sew with a flattering fit. I made mine with a turtleneck and puff sleeves. I’m sure I will use this pattern a lot because it has so many options.
Luv SODA (verified owner) –
Yes I too have bought and made this pattern. I also love the options. It turned out so well I have more makes planned than time LOL I also love the hand holding support group Thanks Love Notions!
