This is my go-to dress when I want to make a gift for a child whose exact size I’m not sure of. The pices are relatively small, so it’s also a good pattern for when you want to use up. Scraps or recycle another piece of clothing.

I made this dress for my daughter in a striped double gauze, and she loves it! The double gauze did stretch out a bit,so The straps sit a little wide on her, but I am looking forward to sewing up another one this summer!

I made this pattern for my granddaughter. We had been at an event featuring Female African American Storytellers. My granddaughter was enchanted by their dresses and expressed her sadness at having outgrown the African dresses that her other grandma’s friend had given to her. We were able to go shopping for African fabric together and I used the Tempo pattern to make her a dress that is her current size.
She wears it frequently sometimes layering it over a long sleeve shirt when it’s not sundress weather in New England.
