All Love Notions Sewing Patterns are digital downloads, you may print them at home or send to a copy shop. A physical pattern will not be mailed to you.
Do the twist! This top is simple but packs a fun surprise. The dolman sleeved blouse is a flattering top meant for light weight drapey knits that are the same on front and back. The neckline features a gradual v-neck that is a breeze to sew. The back of the blouse can feature a special fabric such as stretch lace or a really cool scrap of knit you’ve been hoarding for years. The surprise in this blouse is the twist at the front. The shirt-tail hem really makes this top a great choice for just about any pants or skirt style.
Fabric Recommendations: Lightweight and drapey knits that are the same on both sides such as cotton/rayon, jersey, modal, activewear, dancewear, jersey/rayon. Knits that are the same on both sides are usually solids and stripes. If you have a print you’d like to use that is not the same on both sides you may piece the front together. See page 5 for help with this.

As with all Love Notions patterns this one is excellent too. Pattern is well written and easy to follow. People couldn’t believe that I made this shirt myself.

This top is really cute and I decided to try to make it with an open front so I could wear a camisole underneath. I think it turned out great. I wrote about it on my blog.

If I go by how many I’ve sewn then this is probably one of my favorite tops ever. I’ve made 4 or 5 in different fabrics and love them all. For personal preference I raised the neckline a bit. My only complaint is the unfinished edge on the front hem. Sometimes it’s not a problem, but in other fabrics I don’t like it. I’ve managed to do a small hem before twisting, but the twist also twists my brain so I can’t always remember how exactly I did it lol. But I live how it drapes and it’s very flattering-especially in days when I’m feeling a bit ugh.

To look at the top, it looks like a hard sew with the way the bottom is done but the pattern is written so well that it was easy to make. I know I’ll wear it a lot this summer and I’m sure that I will be making more.

I thought this pattern was going to be tricky but the instructions are clear and it came together perfectly! I would be interested to see this pattern done with a banded bottom.

One of my favorites to make when I have long enough fabric!

I love this top. I made a few and it really is surprising how much of a difference fabric choice makes. That said I did raise the neckline some. I think the biggest difficulty I have is managing the raw edges. I don’t like having raw edges and it’s hard to determine the best way to deal with it. It also gets mentally twisted if you use a fabric with an obvious right and wrong side..

I made this some time ago, only a toile at this stage. I had to make it much shorter. I also had trouble with the twist. I got there in the end I think! I reached out for help but didn’t quite get what I needed. The fit is good.

First Love Notion pattern that I totally messed up. My twist is one big knot that I can’t figure out. I could have used a video for this one 🙂

Hi Debora! There are a couple videos for the twist – I’ll link them here: https://youtu.be/ipeuSGw4KCs?si=Du9ox2LCbV8iqE86 and https://youtu.be/cUO9PzcBJyI
Hope these help!
