All Love Notions Sewing Patterns are digital downloads, you may print them at home or send to a copy shop. A physical pattern will not be mailed to you.
The Octave Coat can be dressed up or down depending on fabric. Use a lovely wool or even a thick flannel or heavy weight fleece to change the look and feel. The integrated pockets into the princess seams are the feature of this gorgeous coat. The coat has the option of a full lining or you can opt out of the lining to make a more simple ‘coatigan’. Add the belt for closure or just use a single, statement button. Included are three collar options- a beautiful & classic shawl collar, a wide lapel, or a dramatic hood. The Octave coat is drafted for winter clothing layering so it’s got plenty of ease. It’s meant to hit at the mid-thigh. A full bust option is included.

This is a wow one! I made it in black Cashmere with the hoodie lined with satin and the normal collar and it feels amazing on. Got so many compliments! I made mine without the belt as Im a shortie and I added a button to keep it closed when the wind blows and its just perfect. Fantastic pattern and design I wouldnt have tried this before if it wasnt for the easy instructions Thanks Tami , Tessa and Ambassors team for this one!! Awesome!

The Octave Coat was the first coat I’ve ever attempted and it turned out beautifully. I consider myself an advanced beginner, but the idea of sewing a coat terrified me. The instructions are very detailed and easy to follow, and the included videos made this a great sewing experience and left me with a beautiful coat to wear. Will do more!

I’ve been sewing for a while, but am relatively new to garments. I decided to jump right in with the Octave coat and it came out so beautiful! I can’t believe that I made a lined coat! The instructions on this pattern are excellent and the design is very sleek and stylish. I’m thrilled with everything about it.

It’s so fun to be able to make my own lined coat! Great instructions and fit. Now I’ll have to make one with the new wide lapel add on. Thank you!

This was a wonderful pattern, it’s my favourite coat to wear. I made this in wool. I love the clever front seam and pocket structure, it makes it a little different and the big pockets are a bonus! LoveNotions always develops really easy to follow instructions, otherwise I’m not sure I’d have been able to complete a bagged out coat, and the fact that there’s a full bust option (as I use) is brilliant.

This coat is a classic!! The front construction is ingenious – very easy to follow directions. I made mine out of plaid jacketing (not great fabric) but plan to make my next Octave out of wool.

I had the material cut for the pattern for a few weeks before I was brave enough to sew it, expecting that the construction would be a little complicated for a slightly experienced beginner. Boy, was I wrong!
The directions were so clear and easy to follow and I made a fully lined wool coat in a day, just Wow!

At first I was intimidated by the pocket but the instructions and illustrations were so concise it was a breeze. Ready to make another one!

I love this pattern! The style of the coat suits my body shape and I can’t wait to make it! That’s right, I need a bit of hand-holding to get me to the finish line. I’m confident the course on the pattern will do the trick! Thanks!

I’ve never made a coat before, but based on the ease of Love Notions patterns, I decided to jump in. I love the construction of the pockets, but pay attention or you’ll be ripping out like I did the first time! I made a winter coat from a thick knit with fleecy lining, and then made a pool cover up from this pattern (for when I swim at the YMCA) out of a lightweight terry. I love both so much!
