I love this pattern!! It’s so easy to sew and perfectly slouchy to wear.

You get what you pay for. I’m an advanced beginner, not a totally green sewist. I’ve sewn my own traditional jean jacket that looks amazing. Yet, this pattern is worthless. After point 4, there is no other instruction as to what to do with the elastic and getting it sewn into a seam. You obviously do not answer YouTube questions as one question is there that was posted a year ago. “4. Open up the front and re-align the pieces so the elastic is between the two layers.” Ok, then what? pin it? sew it? What? There is nothing that will tell you what to do next with the front elastic hem. Also, what is RTS? I will never purchase another one of your patterns again, It’s like chucking $12 in the trash can and ruining purchased fabric.

Hi Briana, I’m sorry to hear you were disappointed in the pattern. This pattern is in the process of getting an update and I’ll definitely be re-doing the videos so they are more clear.
RST is right sides together (there is a key at the beginning of the sewing section).
To answer your question about the elastic- it is sewn on in step 3 using a three step zig zag stitch, there’s nothing else to do with that until hemming when the ends are encased with the side seam and hem.
We’ll be doing a sewalong with this pattern in just a couple weeks so hopefully that will help make things more clear as well. If you have any other questions please feel free to reach out to me by email and I’ll be sure to respond- [email protected]. I’m sorry I didn’t see the youtube questions, we’ve just very recently been putting more focus on that social media channel.

I made this for my daughter for a work top. I watched the sewalong video and was able to put it together very quickly. I LOVE the way it came out. It’s so beautiful~my daughter told me she got several compliments from her coworkers. I’ll make more of these.

This is an excellent pattern and yields an excellent garment. I initially wasn’t sure if the style would suit me, or if I would really wear it all that often. Well, I came to leave a review after realizing that I just pulled on a serenity sweater for the fourth time this week alone. I made one in a dark gray FT and it works as well for date night as it does for lounge wear. It’s so versatile and so cute! Not to mention that the directions are professional and clear; I haven’t struggled with assembly at all. Very happy with this pattern, and with all my LN patterns!

I love this pattern. I have acquired so many sweater knits and had no idea what to use them for. This pattern is perfect. The fit is great and I love how flowy it is. So far I have made 5 and have plans for many more.

When I lay the top pieces on top of each other are they supposed to line up on the side edges? If so is the front piece (the 2 top pieces basted together) supposed to be narrower than the back piece. The directions show the top pieces lining up at the bottom edges and the side edges so the points of the top pieces are sewn into the side seams on both sides. Following these instructions my front is coming our much narrower (about 2 inches on each side seam) than the back piece. I have made 1 size large and 2 size XL, it is much more noticeable in fabric that has a lot of stretch (fabric could be stretching out a bit) but even with a stable micro terry I have this problem. I recently downloaded the revised pattern and the front and back pieces are almost identical. I am using 3/8 inch SA. Thank you for your help.

I’ve made two of the Sonata sweater for myself, and am so pleased, just as I am with all the Love Notion patterns I have made, starting with the LDT! I plan another Sonata with the add on band very soon. LN patterns all fit my body well, the instructions are clear, and often provide additional help if needed, and far exceed the “Big 4” in design and ease of construction. My sewing passion is truly renewed since I discovered Love Notions!
