Did you see the release of the Skater Skirt yesterday? And it’s FREE for Facebook Group members! So hop over and join and then snag that puppy up! It’s so quick and easy to sew and I’m going to show you just how versatile this beauty is!
Hello readers! It’s Kelly and I’m back to share how many things you can do with this amazing FREE pattern Tami created.
First of, it’s pretty fabulous all on it’s own. It’s quick and cute and has plenty of twirl factor. You can make it in pretty much any fabric, knit or woven. The cute plaid above is a woven flannel. Super soft and cozy for chilly weather. Just throw some tights on and some boots and you can wear this well into winter.
To make dressing little girls easier, you can combine the Skater Skirt with the free Leggin’s! Instructions for this are included in the Skater Skirt pattern. Seriously, how cute is my little niece in this? I used the Wrigley Raglan for her shirt and made this entire outfit in just a couple hours one afternoon.
My niece is incredibly active and the combined Leggin’s and Skater Skirt give her plenty of coverage.
The yoga waistband keeps things in place but doesn’t dig into her belly. And you don’t have to thread elastic through a casing. Win for everybody!
But we aren’t stopping there! Tami designed the perfect peplum pattern, called the Maggie (for the girl’s version), that just happens to mash perfectly with the Skater Skirt.
Ummm, brilliant!! And this has to be the easiest pattern smashing ever. Just swap out the peplum skirt in the pattern for the Skater Skirt. That’s it! And you get this wonderfully comfy dress!
The side seams of the skirt get lined up with the side seams of the bodice. The princess seams add a nice touch of detail. They also let you showcase fun fabric combinations! But my daughter prefers solids and things that look more like ready to wear clothing, so we kept things very simple with this grey cotton lycra.
To take this fabulous dress into the cooler temperatures, you could always throw a Boyfriend Cardi on top. Or you to layer with a cute sweater! I found so many cute styling ideas on Pinterest. I have a slight style fail, our sweater wasn’t crop enough. But still cute and easy to wear.
We tried with a more fitted sweater also. Again, I think it’s a cute look on her. 🙂 Some leggings and cute boots and even some boot cuffs would really step this into fall/winter.
Maggie won’t release until later this week. Don’t worry, we aren’t letting the girls have all the fun with this pattern! There is also Margot for women. And if you ever thought you couldn’t do a peplum, let me tell you, it looks fantastic on all of our testers! I can’t wait to share them with you!
Don’t fret though. The week will go fast if you join our Facebook group and join in all the fun games we are playing!
